47/06/23 Chairman’s Opening Address: The Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting.
48/06/23 Apologies for absence and acceptance of any reasons given: Apologies were noted from Cllr Melbourne and Cllr Smith
49/06/23 Notes of the last meeting held on 10 May 2023 to be approved as the minutes - It was resolved by all Councillors at the meeting that the notes of the above meeting were approved and signed as minutes.
50/06/23 Report on matters outstanding
Cllr Everard had fitted the new gate closer to the playpark and had repaired one of the older picnic benches. Cllr Pout and Cllr Minucci has commenced the refurbishment of the bus shelter. The farmer had cut the hedges surrounding the triangle. Cllr Pout had invited Burden’s to test their grass cutting equipment on the triangle to help keep it under control.
51/06/23 Declarations of interest – No declarations were received
52/06/23 Financial Matters & Clerk’s Report
a) Clerk’s vacancy update – potentially 2 candidates had come forward.
The candidate present was asked to introduce herself to the Council. The Council resolved to give the other applicant until 23rd June to apply in writing.
b) Budget report - The quarterly account statement was compared with the bank statement and was confirmed as correct by Cllr Pout. He also asked if the budget would cover the cost of the renovation of the bus shelter. The Clerk confirmed that this had been factored into the budget.
c) Payments - The Council resolved to pay the following:
Cllr Everard Grass Cutting Expenses £32.10
Clerk Gate Closer for Playpark £59.99
3 bags of compost for planters £21.00
53/06/23 Planning Applications – Nothing received
54/06/23 Funding Update from Cllr Taylor – Cllr Taylor advised that a funding application to the value of £40,000 had been submitted with a letter from the Village Hall Committee agreeing to co fund to the maximum value of £4000.
55/06/23 Bus stop renovation – as discussed minute ref. 50/06/23.
56/06/23 Items from the Public Forum and updates from Councillors There was nothing raised during the public forum.
Cllr Taylor asked if some signs could be placed within the village in the Church Lane/ Vacherie Lane area to encourage drivers to be mindful of children on bicycles, playing near the road and people walking on the verges etc – to be put on the list of questions for the LCC Highways Manager’s visit to at 1.30pm on Monday 26th June.
She also asked if the spare piece of land currently used as an overflow car park could be used to make a quiet area such as a garden involving the children of the village. To be considered for future project.
